My friend Michael sent me a link this afternoon saying this: “Don’t read this if you don’t want to bawl your eyes out but I feel like this story deserves publicity of some form.” Of course, I opened it and I read the story of Donna Fountain, a woman with a list dreams in her pocket.
Donna was a 38 year old lesbian and single mother from Brooklyn, New York. She was killed Christmas day by a hit-and-run accident. From the Jezebel article: “Donna was hit at 7:30 on Chrismas morning as she headed to her job as a home health care aide. After running Fountain down, a grey car sped off, leaving her dying in the street, just two and a half blocks from the small apartment she shared with her son. I hesitate to even say this next bit, because it will twist your heart into a tiny knot and cause your eyes to leak for hours, but Elijah was at home with a sitter, excitedly waiting for his mom to come home after her shift and open presents.”
This is an incredibly touching story. And I did, indeed, bawl my eyes out.
